First you need to determine what brand of camera lenses were made for his father.

If mount for Canon FD-type (FTB, AE-1) therefore requires an adapter.

If the lenses are for Minolta MC / MD mount (SRT-202, XG-9, XE-7, X-700), then you need an adapter. This adapter can often be found on eBay.

If the lenses for Nikon adapter for use on my Canon digital SLR.

While there are adapters allow the use of non-Canon EOS-frame, there are limits to be considered.
1) Some lenses can not focus to infinity.
Each 2) that an adapter uses must be hand held.
3) All lenses require the use of "stop down" metering. What does this mean that since there is no other electrical or mechanical connection between the camera and the target in the first row. If you shoot wide open (F1.4, 1.7), is not a problem - the display remains bright. However, if you shut down for more depth of field (f5.6, f8, etc.), the viewer of GEDark TS - making it difficult or impossible to concentrate. So you concentrate, you open, then finish the hole is desired, subway and take the picture.

There is a wealth of information:

Depends. If the EF lenses are, then you can) with a series of EOS cameras (digital and film. If the lenses were before the series made for EOS (1987), as the FD mount lenses, then you can not use it.

I have not tried to mount compatible lenses can destroy the body contacts.

Not that I know of. Most lenses fit all aircraft of the same brand, even if they are "old" or "film". If the glasses are trying to Canon, so in theory it should make work. I have not seen or heard what the lens, however, and I'm not sure it will. Good luck!

As already mentioned the topic of the meeting, will only work if the camera has a full frame sensor ... namely, a sensor the same size as a 35mm negative. If not, which is less than what you see.

If the old film-based SLR is a Canon lens to be interchangeable, provided that the lens is the same. Otherwise it would not verify whether an adapter.

How old is "old"?

If you are FD mount, then not without a converter that will also reduce the optical quality. In addition, lens quality, while some were about to replace most of the decent with new versions with improved technology.
